Airport valet parking: what it is and how it works
30-09-2026

You can feel it, can’t you? That nagging thought at the back of your mind. That knot in your stomach. That missing peace of mind. That feeling that, before you’ve even boarded the plane, there are still too many things to sort out. Getting to the airport in good time, parking the car, unloading your bags, making your way to the terminal… and doing it all without any more rushing than necessary. Then spending your trip unsure whether your car is really safe where you left it. But there’s a solution to all of this: have you heard of airport valet parking?
What is valet parking?
A car park with a valet service essentially offers airport valet parking: you drive right up to the terminal entrance (or very close to it), hand your keys to a professional and they take care of driving your car to the car park, keeping it there and bringing it back when you return. The difference from a conventional long-stay car park isn’t where your car stays, but who makes the journey to the car park: with valet parking, someone else does it; with conventional parking, you do it yourself, suitcase and all.
How does airport valet parking work?
It’s simpler than it might seem the first time you use it. And, judging by all our customers’ experiences, we can confirm that once you’ve tried it, it’s very hard to go back. Let’s look at the two key moments:
Dropping off your car before your flight
You book in advance, specifying your arrival date and time, drive straight to the clearly signposted designated area at the terminal itself and hand your vehicle over to a member of the valet team. Their welcoming smile will be matched by the relief you feel as you walk into the airport knowing everything is in good hands. Now all you need to do is check in and catch your flight with plenty of time to spare.
Collecting your car when you return
On your return, the process works in reverse: you provide your estimated landing time (or update it if your flight is delayed) and, when you step out of arrivals, your car is already waiting or takes just a few minutes to appear. No shuttle buses, no dragging your suitcase to a parking facility a fifteen-minute walk away and no long waits. You’re home. You’re in your car. You’re happy.
Valet parking vs. conventional parking
Asking “which is better?” doesn’t really make much sense. It all depends on your trip. A conventional car park near the airport is usually a little cheaper and remains a perfectly valid option if you don’t mind making the journey to the parking facility and back yourself because you have time to spare or you’re travelling light. Valet parking, on the other hand, costs a little more (although with aparca&go, for example, you’ll still save compared with the rate for the airport’s official conventional parking), but removes that journey altogether.
The benefits of using valet parking
Some pleasures can only be appreciated once you’ve tried them. And valet parking offers quite a few. Among them is the fact that you drastically reduce your margin for error: fewer journeys around the airport mean less chance of misjudging how much time you need.
Saving time and enjoying greater convenience at the airport
A car park near Madrid Airport or Barcelona Airport with a valet service can save you between 15 and 30 minutes on transfers alone, a welcome buffer if you’re flying on a tight schedule or facing an uncomfortably early start. Do yourself a favour. Treat yourself to a peaceful journey.
When is valet parking worth choosing?
There are situations where the value of valet parking really shows: very early flights when every minute of sleep counts, trips with young children or lots of luggage, or simply those days when you’re already racing against the clock before you’ve even left home. If your getaway fits any of these scenarios, think of valet parking as the most practical option.
